The attachment leaves the message, a link takes its place
An oversized file is not negotiable: it bounces, or it fills the mailbox of whoever receives it. MAX pulls it out before delivery, keeps it on our storage, and leaves nothing in the message but a link.

You may set your own maximum message size, but the server at the other end decides. An attachment accepted here can be refused there, and you will not hear about it.
And when it does get through, it stays: the same forty-megabyte file sent to twelve internal recipients takes up twelve times the room. Quotas fill with attachments nobody will open again.

Nothing happens by default. You write a rule: when these conditions hold, extract the attachment. Conditions combine with one another.

Archives and videos have no business sitting in a mailbox.
The file name
A recognisable pattern — an invoice prefix, an internal naming scheme.
Ten comparisons
Equals, differs, greater, lesser, greater or equal, lesser or equal, matches a pattern, does not match, belongs to a list, does not belong. A size threshold is only one case among many.
Per domain, down to the user
Rules are set on a domain. They can also be set on a single user, and that set belongs to them alone.
One department receives drawings, another receives statements: they do not share thresholds or conditions. The rule follows the use, not the other way round.
